Another summer soap opera is about to take place in the heart of catalonia as Ter Stegen and the Barca  board set for a guirella war in the summer. 

TER STEGEN: A BARCA LEGEND

Before we get into the ugly affair let us not forget that Ter Stegen is barca legend, a hero a man who was to luis Enrique’s treble winning side , He was just as important as the famous MSN. The unrealistic superhuman saves that he has made for Barcelona can never be forgotten , Ter stegen from 2015 to 2019 was unbelievable and even getting the shouts from many neutrals as being the best  GK in 2019 and justifiably so . he also had an exceptional 2022/23 season conceding only 20 goals in La liga .

WHAT LED TO THIS?

Ter Stegen had a disappointing previous season he also had bad spell from 19/20 till 21/22 . there was already negative impression on Barcelona fans and judging from the barca board's actions there was also a bad impression on the Barca hierarchy too but, he got a fresh start this season under Hansi Flick   Unfortunately he suffered an ACL rupture against villareal which sideline him from the rest of the season. to replace him Barca brought in came Wojciech Szczęsny  and he was absolutely amazing. helping Barcelona to a domestic treble not to mention a champions league semi-final. when ter stegen returned he was kept on the sidelines and rightly so. the disagreements between Flick and Marc came out when Ter Stegen refused to give a speech after the final home match  .

WHAT'S NEXT ?

Ter Stegen and barca are set to go to war about Ter stegen staying . Ter stegen feels betrayed and believes  he should be shown loyalty , respect and trust which he feels like is not being shown and he would be right to think that as Barcelona have almost completed the deal of Joan Garcia . Ter stegen has already  announced in the media that he isn’t leaving . Given Barcelona's finances and transfer ambitions they cannot afford to keep three world class goalkeepers. Ināki Peña is most likely to leave and it would be interesting to se who follows him. What's for sure is that its going to be a interesting transfer season at the culers' home .


PERSONAL OPINION

I think Ter Stegen is definitely past his best and despite being relatively young for a goalkeeper his best his behind him but he should be shown the respect he has earned and i personally feel Tek should leave and Ter Stegen should be kept . Ter Stegen is far from finished if anyone saw the germany vs portugal match they would have seen the super human reflexes he showed  against Portugal especially in the dying minutes , plus it would be better for Joan Garcia to not quickly be thrown in the fire . Barca need to break the cycle of disrespecting their Legends.
